The Carrboro Songwriters Festival brings together outstanding songwriters from across the Southeast and beyond for a weekend devoted to the thing that matters most: the song.

Across three days and multiple Carrboro venues, you’ll hear Nashville-style songwriter rounds, intimate performances, unexpected collaborations, and a few provocative panel discussions exploring the world behind the music—how songs get written, how artists get heard, what makes a great performance, and where the business is headed.

This isn’t about chasing trends or playing the loudest. It’s about great writing, compelling stories, fearless performances, and songs that earn their place.

You’ll hear music that’s raw, honest, beautifully crafted—and delivered by the people who actually wrote it. Some performances will make you laugh. Some may break your heart. Others might send you home wanting to pick up a guitar and write something yourself.

Most of all, this is a gathering for people who believe a great song can still stop a room in its tracks. Artists will have 30-45 minutes to make their case, stake their ground… and play their songs!

And the Festival has roots. The Grit Diaries, our acclaimed Nashville-style songwriter showcase, is the creative campfire that sparked it all. Join us on Wednesday, October 14 to experience the intimate, unpredictable energy that inspired the Festival and get an early taste of what’s coming.
